Appeal Allowed – First Tier Tribunal

At the First Tier Tribunal, Mr. Razzaq-Siddiq represented the Appellant, a Bangladeshi National. He had been convicted of supplying Class A drugs and was sentenced to 30 months in a youth offender institution. He had been notified by the Home Office that he was liable to be deported under Section 32(5) of the UK Borders Act 2007 and made an appeal against that decision. Mr. Razzaq-Siddiq was able to show that due to the Appellant’s tenuous links to Bangladesh and the obstacles he would have to overcome to survive there, the appeal was allowed by the judge and a half fee award was granted due to the additional evidence brought to the hearing. The Home Office’s later application to the Upper Tribunal for permission to appeal was unsuccessful.
